there are many people that are using BlogSpot service known as Blogger to have blogs about reviewing products or buying tips and in each post they are placing affiliate links in Amazon or other big shops. That's because instead of placing banner ads in their sites, their affiliate links provide a specific target because the review of the specific product attacks Internet traffic that are somehow interested in the specific product that is being reviewed. If one kicks the affiliate link in the article and buys the product then the webmaster can earn money as a affiliate and that would be a presentence of the sale price.
the above mentioned money earning system gave inspiration to many site and blog owners to make dedicated and niche blogs about reviewing a specific range and category of products and naturally to place affiliate links in each post, because every post is also a different review of another product.
this kind of blogs are being lately under targeting from blogger and Google and are eventually being banned as spam blogs. It is not known if the Google policy is changed lately or its status about conflict of interests (Google has recently launched the Google store a analog site to Amazon) but for sure it's penalizing and banning the product reviewing blogs and Internet sites.
a personal experience of mine is to have one blog banned because it was marked as spam because had many affiliate links to Amazon.that was a niche site about clothes and naturally every post was presenting a different cloth with a picture of the product and the common Amazon banner with the actual price and the little thumb nail picture , and that just one time . That's why I'm assuming that this type of blog posting is hunted down by the famous Google.
you should consider if you should have in your URLs hide with a shortcut service but is also not a perfect option because then you could have problems with the affiliate program. Probably the best option to have a niche reviewing products site is to host your own blog in a private server but it is also in that case the big doubt if the reviewing blog could rank up in the search engines like Google and if is the hosting investment worth it .I personally don't think that is good to have a paid hosting and a domain if you are not sure that the little niche site will succeed and that's why I prefer to have such kind of blogs hosted in free services like blogger or tumblr but I am disappointed that both of these services are banning this type of blogs
